Maria is now 87 years old. I have known her since I was a young child (roughly 30 years now). She was a huge part of my childhood, as she lived with us in order to help my mom with the kids off and on, taking care of is as if we were her own grandkids. She had to go back to Canada every 6 months or so to remain a citizen. As I have grown, we have kept in touch by phone and this is my 4th visit to her in the Pacific Northwest. She is a firecracker of a woman who is deeply frustrated with getting older as her body slows down. As long as I can remember she has always been on the go, keeping up with the times, and sharp as a tack. This is the first time she has met Christian and the second time she has met Kyra, but Kyra was only 9 months old the last time she met her. It was nice to be able to bring some excitement and joy to her day and to ours.
